Preface
This is the sixth edition of CSA Standard B182.1, Plastic Drain and Sewer Pipe and Pipe Fittings. It supersedes previous editions published in 1992, 1987, 1983, 1977, and 1967.
Nominal pipe size is indicated with an NPS designator number, eg, NPS-2, 3, 4, etc; however, dimensions shown in tables are given in millimetres. Other equivalent values shown in brackets are for information only.
Significant changes in this new edition are as follows:
(a) Dimensions and tolerances of fittings have been revised.
(b) Methods of measuring centreline radius of curvature have been added.
(c) Requirements for solvent cements for ABS joints have been revised.
(d) Requirements for the thickness of the surface layers of coextruded pipe have been added.
This Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Plastic Nonpressure Pipe under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Plumbing Products and Materials, and was formally approved by these Committees.
Scope
1.1
This Standard covers the following:
(a) plastic drain and sewer pipe and plastic pipe fittings with pipe stiffness of 275, 320, or 625 kPa, including both single-wall and coextruded dual-wall pipe with a smooth interior;
(b) single-wall or coextruded, noncorrugated, perforated plastic pipe and plastic pipe fittings;
(c) coextruded dual-wall perforated plastic pipe with a smooth interior and corrugated exterior; and
(d) solvent cement.
Note: Industrial waste-disposal lines should be installed only with the specific approval of the regulatory authority, since chemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures greater than 60°C may be encountered.
1.2
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
