Details test and examination criteria for vented gas fireplace heaters for use with natural gas and liquefied petroleum (propane). A vented gas fireplace heater is a vented appliance which allows the view of flames and provides the simulation of a solid fuel fireplace and furnishes warm air to the space in which it is installed directly from the appliance with or without duct connections. The design of a vented gas-fired fireplace heater is such that it will comply with minimum thermal efficiency requirements and may be controlled by an automatic thermostat. The circulation of heated room air may be by gravity forces or mechanical means. A vented gas fireplace heater may be free-standing, wall-mounted, recessed or zero clearance. Direct vent appliances may be installed in manufacutred (mobile) homes and recreational vehicles.
