Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-T530, Building Facilities, Design Guidelines for Telecommunications. The Standard is written in SI (metric) units.
Scope
1.1
This Standard prescribes guidelines covering the design of building facilities used to install telecommunications cable, terminations, and equipment, to be utitized by data, video, and voice systems.
1.2
The guidelines prescribed are minimum design criteria for
(a) the building space required to house the equipment and terminations; and
(b) the raceway distribution system that is used to install cable and wire.
1.3
The guidelines prescribed cover the space and protection requirements that are part of the building complex, and provided for the entrance cable.
1.4
The guidelines identify the need for due consideration during the design stages of the flexibility and functional aspects of the entire telecommunications system.
1.5 Limitations
1.5.1
This Standard does not provide the technical requirements for the installation of the equipment and its associated wiring.
1.5.2
This Standard does not provide the requirements for user safety.
